Kate Sullivan
Founder
Kate Sullivan, E-RYT 500, RCYT, YACEP, is the founder of Kalā Yoga and the director of Kalā's teacher training programs. A lifelong student and dedicated educator, Kate believes in the transformative potential of yoga and the importance of thoughtful, rigorous education rooted in both tradition and inquiry.
With a background in special education, social work, and curriculum development, Kate brings a unique perspective to teaching yoga. Her approach integrates intelligent movement, creative sequencing, pranayama, meditation, Yoga Nidra, and philosophy, encouraging students to develop a deeper understanding of their bodies and minds. Trained in the Fluid Yoga tradition, her classes weave breath and movement together with curiosity, precision, and a sense of possibility.
Kate's studies span multiple yoga traditions and contemplative practices. She is profoundly grateful to her heart teachers, Kevan Gale and Betty Riaz, and to the many generous teachers who continue to shape her understanding of these practices.
Above all, Kate believes that yoga is a lifelong practice of learning, questioning, and discovery. Whether guiding students on the mat or educating the next generation of teachers, she considers it a privilege to share practices that help people feel more at ease in their bodies, more curious about their minds, and more connected to themselves and one another.
